Welcome to 2021 and the 2020 Tax Filing Season!
In business for over 40 years, Blackwell’s has been blessed to maintain clients in over two dozen states and four foreign countries. We have a long history of offering virtual and remote tax preparation. We continue to offer low-cost, personal tax preparation to the Fort Mill area, with an accuracy guarantee and will work to meet your needs for a successful tax filing experience in 2021.
We have COVID-19 measures in place to ensure your safety while at our private tax preparation office:
- Social Distancing: Our office offers proper social distancing, and our waiting room can comfortably accommodate up to 10 clients while maintaining CDC-recommended social distancing.
- Sanitizing: Our private offices and public areas are sanitized daily. We have also upgraded our air handling equipment to offer medical quality filtration and circulation. You’re also welcome to bring your own black pen to make your tax preparation experience a touchless affair!
We offer drop-off services, curbside pickup and delivery, and virtual tax preparation, but meeting in person is preferred.
Walk-ins are welcome, but feel free to make an appointment to shorten your wait time.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
An Important Tax Update for Our Clients!
The 2020 tax filing season has been extended to May 15, 2021.
As May 15 falls on a Saturday, taxes are due on, or before, midnight on Monday, May 17, 2021. The South Carolina Department of Revenue has also extended its due date to May 17, and we expect North Carolina and other states to follow suit as well.
Of course, if you’re getting a refund, you have up to three years to file your taxes without any negative consequences, and without having to file an extension.
For those clients previously planning on filing an extension, we will be contacting you to schedule an appointment before May 17 to file your return.
For those clients who were frustrated not being able to get an appointment with us prior to April 15, now’s your chance to phone us at 803.547.1956 and schedule your appointment.
For those 200 clients who have already filed and are due additional refunds because of the recent changes in taxable unemployment benefits and premium repayments, the IRS will be preparing amended returns for those clients, and no additional action is required on their part. The IRS has announced they will begin this process in July.
If you have already completed your return and arranged for an automatic draft from your account to pay an amount due, we regret this transaction cannot be changed. The draft will happen as originally filed.
If you’re confused by all of these changes, please contact us via phone at 803.547.1956, or via email at [email protected] and we’ll be happy to update you on any status change, law change, and filing changes we’re aware of.
Thank you for your patronage and patience.
